The Future of Earthquake Prediction
QuakeInsight Tokyo ― Toward a new era of disaster resilience

―Greetings―
For many years, short-term earthquake prediction has been regarded as impossible. Yet we have never stopped searching for ways to protect human lives and economic losses.
Since our discovery of ionospheric anomalies before the 1995 Kobe earthquake, the ionosphere has been the main player of short-term earthquake prediction. We have spent three decades studying different kinds of earthquake precursors, not only ionospheric effects, but also atmospheric and lithospheric electromagnetic precursors. Significant correlations with seismic activity were obtained statistically.
Recent findings have led us to propose a new approach to earthquake prediction based on the integrated analysis of precursor phenomena in different geo-layers.
QuakeInsight Tokyo was established in 2025 to advance earthquake prediction through multi-parameter observations of the lithosphere, atmosphere, and ionosphere with our target of only Tokyo district, while fostering the next generation of researchers.
We look forward to your strong support and collaboration.
